New Delhi: The CEO of an online shopping company has been arrested by the police on charges of cheating, it was announced on Wednesday. The suspect, identified as Vivek Gaur, was apprehended in Sector 54 of Gurgaon. According to authorities, his company had obtained investments from various small businesses and investors in India and overseas. The firm had procured raw materials from small businesses in the Delhi-NCR area and had issued cheques in return. Subsequently, the company declared bankruptcy and ceased operations. Five complaints were lodged against Gaur. Police revealed that in 2011, he and a partner established an online shopping venture in Gurgaon, where he served as the CEO while his accomplice was the COO. The company specialized in retailing garments and accessories online.
